Snapchat brings Olympics to its millennials

Snapchat will show video clips from the Olympics after it struck a deal with NBC to bring the sporting event to its millennial — and younger — audience. The Los Angeles-based messaging app will run “live stories” about the Rio Olympics on its app, displaying user generated photos and videos to viewers across the US, and will create a channel on its Discover platform where NBC will work with journalists from BuzzFeed to produce daily snippets around the games… Traditional media companies are increasingly valuing Snapchat’s young and engaged audience, specially creating content for its Discover channels… Snapchat has more than 100 million daily active users… The users are very engaged, with 8 billion videos viewed each day on the app.
