Spotify is pouring hundreds of millions into original series

Spotify, the market leader in music streaming, is producing a dozen original video series to bolster the platform as competition intensifies with rivals such as Apple Music and YouTube… Spotify has expanded rapidly in recent years by offering listeners access to millions of tracks for a monthly subscription of about $10. It has more than 75 million active users, of which more than 30 million are paying subscribers… The company hopes that adding exclusive content to the service will help it stand out against rivals including YouTube, Facebook and Snapchat in the highly competitive market for online video. Streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime are also pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into original content.
